Manual verification in System Builder and direct emissions in genealogy

This update adds a dedicated Verification tab to output nodes and System Properties in the System Builder. Users can record verifier information and attach supporting evidence. Direct emissions are also now visible as separate nodes in the system genealogy view and as a distinct section in the CAP certificate.

What changed

Verification tab in output nodes

Each output node in Builder mode now includes a Verification tab. Users can record verification details for a specific output directly from that node.

To add verification details:

  1. Open any output node in Builder mode.

  2. Select the Verification tab.

  3. Click Add verification.

  4. Fill in the relevant fields (see field reference below).

  5. Save. The details are stored with that output node.

Note: Each output node supports one verification record.

To edit: Click the edit icon to modify any saved field. Click Save to confirm or Cancel to discard changes.

To delete: Click the delete icon. A confirmation message appears: "Delete verification? This action cannot be undone." Click Delete to confirm or Cancel to go back.

If an output node is deleted and Undo is used, the verification record is restored along with the node.

Verification tab in System Properties

System Properties now includes a Verification tab that lists all output nodes with verification records in a single view. Clicking any item in the list navigates directly to that output node with the Verification tab open.

Changes to the Carbon Attested Product (CAP) certificate

The CAP certificate header and footer have been updated to reflect verification data entered in the System Builder.

Header: Now includes fields populated from System Properties (System Boundary) and the Verification tab.

Footer: Updated to reflect the new verification fields.

Changes to the Publishing page

The third-party verification component has been replaced with a section showing the certified organization logo and program standard information.

Direct emissions in genealogy and certificate

Direct emissions as separate nodes in genealogy

Previously, direct emissions were embedded inside process nodes in the genealogy view, making them difficult to identify at a glance. Direct emissions now appear as independent nodes in the genealogy, connected directly to their parent process.

The process tab in the right sidebar has also been updated, and process nodes no longer display a number in their label, showing only the process title.

Direct emissions section in the CAP certificate

The CAP certificate now includes a Direct emissions section within each process that has at least one direct emission. If a process has no direct emissions, the section does not appear.

Why this matters

This update enables teams to capture the full verification workflow inside CarbonSig, reducing reliance on separate documentation tools and creating a cleaner audit trail. Verification data entered in the System Builder flows directly into the CAP certificate, keeping sustainability reporting consistent and traceable. Surfacing direct emissions as dedicated nodes in the genealogy view gives users and verifiers a clearer, more complete picture of all emission sources in a system.
